Centre for Excellence – CEO

I am delighted to share with you today that the role of CEO for the Centre for Excellence in Public Sector Design will be undertaken by Ms Jane Treadwell.

Jane has significant experience in government and change management, including through her previous roles as Government Chief Information Officer for the Victorian Public Service, and Deputy CEO, Business Transformation and Chief Information Officer at Centrelink.

Jane has most recently operated her own consulting company and been a senior consultant to the World Bank on e-Government, ICT and transformation.

Jane will not only be a great advocate for design and innovation in the public sector, but will be instrumental in establishing the Centre and demonstrating the value of this pilot initiative.

Jane will commence working for the Centre on 2 July. I hope you will join me in welcoming Jane as CEO.

    • Hi Justin – as an experimental initiative some of the mechanics of all of this are to still be worked out but we’re well aware there’s a keen interest in this. We’ve got some initial thoughts but it’s something we will flag with Jane once she starts the role. If you have specific ideas about how that might happen, feel free to raise them here as a comment or to get in touch directly – ultimately it will be the CEO’s call but it would be great to draw on some of the enthusiasm out there.

        • Alex,

Just one idea, while i’m going through the slide and recordings of this global get together. http://www.aarnet.edu.au/Events/2012/06/28/AARNet-CAUDIT-Strategic-collaboration-services-workshop.aspx and your other entry about “innovation requires Leadership”. (and your ‘how do we do Video conferencing’)

Jane moderates the WB’s Global Leaders for Transformation Network, and so probably has some ideas for a national one. The attendees at terena have been offered the use of some pretty nice tools. That includes the aarnet guys. http://www.terena.org/news/3167/fullstory This could give you anything from a video conference to a full online broadcast studio.

How about a one hour weekly/monthly talkback type show which, if you really want to include a national audience, might be plugged into a broadcast station?
          just an idea.

  2. Now that’s exciting!

Especially Jane’s role in the world bank. I hope that means that the COE will take on the perspective of a branch/hub of the WB’s GDLN. http://gdln.org/about Boy, would that throw up some interesting innovations in Canberra.
