Developments and articles of interest from the past week:
- Tim Kastelle, of University of Queensland, writes about two different methods for choosing between ideas. As Tim notes most organisations have plenty of ideas – the harder parts of the process can be choosing which ideas to implement, embed and diffuse.
- In this piece on the blog of our UK Government counterparts, Nick Jankel calls different ways of thinking to be used to create the significant (and potentially disruptive) changes needed to address the numeorous challenges facing the public sector and society.
- Scott Anthony looks at the question of what should be done when it is unknown how customers (or clients/stakeholders) will relate to an innovation (because they have not seen it before). Scott warns of relying too much on market research which can mislead when the customers themselves will not know what they will do with an innovation.
- The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing is hosting a free day-long cross government briefing by four leading social media monitoring vendors to provide a grounding in the commercial social media monitoring options available to government communicators and policy analysts. The briefing will be on 22 November and is open to representatives of Commonwealth and ACT Government agencies.
- As part of the Social Innovator Dialogues, Christian Bason, Innovation Director of Denmark’s MindLab, will be presenting a range of masterclasses and free public forums across Australia (Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra) in November. Christian is a leading international thinker on public sector innovation.
